Mary McDowell
Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer, Nokia
Mary T. McDowell is Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer leading the Corporate Development unit. Mary is responsible for optimizing Nokia's strategic capabilities and future growth potential, including key ecosystem relationships as part of Nokia’s commitment to open innovation and collaboration. In these capacities she oversees Corporate Strategy, Nokia Research Center, Corporate Alliances and Business Development, and Mobile Financial Services, as well as Forum Nokia & Developer Community and Compatibility & Industry Collaboration. She is also responsible for managing certain operational elements of the integrated company and in this role oversees Nokia IT. Mary is a member of the Nokia Group Executive Board, a position held since 2004. She is a frequent public speaker on topics including mobile and Internet industry convergence, open ecosystems, strategy leadership, and consumer centricity.
Mary joined Nokia in 2004 as Executive Vice President and General Manager of Enterprise Solutions, with responsibility for the development and go-to-market of Nokia’s range of enterprise products and solutions. These included Nokia Eseries mobile devices, mobility software, as well as security and mobile connectivity solutions. She was named of the 10 “Top Women in Wireless” in July 2008 by Fierce Wireless.
A 17-year veteran of HP-Compaq, Mary has a successful track record in building new business and is widely respected as an industry innovator. Prior to joining Nokia, Mary served for five years as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Industry-Standard Servers at Hewlett Packard and Compaq, a multi-billion dollar business and the world's largest server franchise.
In this role, Mary had worldwide P&L responsibility for HP's ProLiant server business, which held the number one position in a highly competitive market for over a decade. Previously she held a variety of senior management roles. She joined Compaq as a systems engineer in 1986.
Mary was born on July 23, 1964. She holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Illinois.
Purnima Kochikar
Vice President, Head of Forum Nokia & Developer Community
As Vice President, Forum Nokia and Developer Community, Purnima is responsible for strategy and growth opportunities with Nokia’s third party developers to create a vibrant Nokia ecosystem.
She joined Nokia in 2003 as Senior Product Manager for Multimedia Solutions in Nokia mobile phones, with previous roles as Director, Strategy and Business Development for Enterprise Solutions and Director, Market Readiness for Consumer Messaging before taking on her current role. At Nokia, Purnima has been recognized for her contributions to the mobile messaging business.
Before joining Nokia, Purnima led Product Marketing for Watercove Networks, a venture funded startup acquired by Alcatel. Prior to Watercove, she held various technical and engineering management positions at Verizon. Before Verizon, Purnima founded and managed a computer services business in India, and grew the business from 5 to 500 students and tripled revenues each year for three years.
Purnima earned a MBA with honors from Harvard Business School and an MS in Computer Science from University of Maryland, where she was initiated into the Phi Kappa Phi and the Upsilon Pi Epsilon honor societies. In her spare time, Purnima serves as an advisor to technical startups, and volunteers at non-profit institutions focused on K-12 education.

Shaun Puckrin
Head of Developer Services, Symbian Foundation
Shaun currently heads the Community Support team in the Symbian Foundation, where he has responsibility for the technical support of developers and the provision of tools and services to enable the Symbian community to thrive.
Shaun joined Symbian Software Ltd. in 1999. Originally working as a consultant, Shaun helped companies such as Nokia, Samsung, Motorola and SEMC bring innovative Symbian smartphones to market. Shaun then took on the role of creating a global technical presales and propositions team aimed at increasing the adoption of Symbian OS by OEMs and Network Operators.
His areas of expertise include: developers, app stores, market stats, runtimes, and generally why the Symbian platform rocks.
Peter Schneider
Head of Technology Marketing, Maemo Devices, Nokia
Peter is currently heading the global marketing team for Maemo Devices at Nokia responsible for communication to the open source community, the business ecosystem, and lead consumers.
He has over 12 years of experience in product management, product marketing, and business development functions in the telecommunications and software industry. Before his current position, he has been heading for over two years the strategic product marketing team of S60 software for operators in Nokia.
Peter holds a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences in Frankfurt, Germany and a MBA degree in General Management from the Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration, Finland.

Henri Tirri
Senior Vice President, Head of Nokia Research Center
Henri Tirri is responsible for the Nokia's long-term research at the Nokia Research Center (NRC) laboratories and units worldwide. NRC mission is to develop cutting-edge technology and innovations for user-centric solutions and successfully transfer them to Nokia businesses. These innovations are developed in collaboration of the global open innovation network. Therefore NRC has a strong presence in many of the world leading innovation ecosystems including Silicon Valley, Beijing, Cambridge (MA), Hollywood, Helsinki, Tampere, Lausanne, Bangalore, Nairobi and Cambridge (UK). In addition Henri’s Nokia role, he is also an Adjunct Professor of Computer Science (University of Helsinki), and an Adjunct Professor of Computational Engineering (Helsinki University of Technology).

Heikki Norta
Senior Vice President, Head of Corporate Strategy, Nokia
As Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy of Nokia, Heikki Norta is responsible for Nokia's strategy, corporate planning and strategic intelligence. His duties also include the company's industry analyst relations and strategy deployment consulting services for the whole company.
Heikki joined Nokia in 1992 and over the course of his career at Nokia has held a number of strategic roles in business management, consumer insight, sales and marketing.
Heikki holds a Master of Science (Econ.) degree from Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration.

Oskar Korkman
Head of Opportunity Identification in Consumer & Customer Insights, Nokia
Oskar Korkman is head of opportunity identification in C&CI (consumer and customer insights). C&CI is a unit in Nokia that is responsible for consumer insights, and supports to business to translate consumer understanding into business decision-making. As head of opportunity identification, Oskar works closely with the business to ensure that consumer insights are used in an effective way.
The opportunity identification team helps Nokia to understand the dynamics in the market from a consumer point of view (Consumer trends), but also everyday behaviours and the opportunities for Nokia to drive digital behaviours.
Oskar joined Nokia in 2008 as director in the consumer insights unit. Before joining Nokia he managed his own consulting company specialised in consumer centric innovation. He has a master’s degree in pedagogics, and a Ph.D. in marketing around innovative methods for understanding everyday life of people and the embeddedness of technology in everyday life.
Teppo Paavola
Vice President, General Manager of Mobile Financial Services, Nokia
Teppo Paavola is Vice President, General Manager of Mobile Financial Services in Nokia. Nokia is the world leader in mobility, driving the transformation and growth of the converging Internet and communications industries.
Mobile Financial Services brings multiple financial services to consumers in growth markets and the developed world. Mobile devices are already in the hands of 4 billion people across the globe, while there are only 1.6 billion bank accounts in the world. Nokia, with its leading distribution network and trusted brand, is in a unique position to help bridge that gap and bring financial services to both the banked and underbanked in more convenient and cost-efficient ways. Mobile payment brand Nokia Money was announced in August 2009 and the Mobile Financial Services unit was formed.
Teppo has had several roles in Nokia since joining in 2004. Most recently, as Head of Corporate Business Development, Teppo led Nokia’s new business creation activities (“Stratgic growth areas”) and strategic partnering.
Teppo is a five-time entrepreneur who founded his first company as a teenager in 1981, most recently as CEO of Oplayo (2002-2004), a mobile video company. In the early 90’s he went into consulting and was in charge of several productivity consulting projects for e.g. Nokia in the role of Project Director of IMPAC Ltd. After consulting and before returning to his entrepreneurial career in the software industry, Teppo spent four years in financial services with GE Capital in Mergers & Acquisitions and Business Development positions in London and Stockholm, and most recently as Managing Director of GE Capital Equipment Finance in Finland.
Teppo earned his M.Sc. in Economics from the Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration in 1991, and MBA in General Management from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France in 1996. He is based in New York.

Frances Linzee Gordon
Travel writer, Lonely Planet
Award-winning British travel journalist, Frances Linzee Gordon, contributes articles and photographs to newspapers and magazines, writes guidebooks for UK, US and Australian travel publishers, and works as presenter, consultant and assistant-producer on TV and radio travel shows (including the BBC's new documentary series 'The Frankincense Trail' currently being shown on BBC2).
Frances' fervour for travel was first sparked by a scholarship to Venice at the age of 17. Since then, she's travelled in over 100 countries, and specialises particularly in Africa and the Middle East. She has a passion for languages (with qualifications in 10), Islamic architecture, food and wine, and all forms of dangerous sport. She is currently working on two film projects, writing a narrative about her travels in Africa, setting up a foundation for the preservation of indigenous peoples, and studying part-time for an MA in African and Asian history with Arabic.
Frances believes passionately in the benefits of travel both for the tourist as well as the country. She also encourages women to travel, considering her gender a help not a hindrance when negotiating the hurdles of the road!
